Senator Frank Lautenberg Introduces Smart Oil Drilling Bill

I wrote earlier that we need to drill concurrent relief wells. Now Senator Lautenberg has introduced a bill to do just that...
"My bill takes a common-sense step to contain damages that come with the inherently dangerous drilling business. If relief wells had been in place before the BP rig explosion, the gushing oil could have been stopped in weeks instead of months," Lautenberg said in a statement sent to the Huffington Post. "Clean energy that will reduce our dependence on oil is the long-term solution - but while offshore drilling continues in the Gulf and Alaska, this bill provides a proven way to contain oil spill drilling disasters. I will also continue to oppose any energy proposal in the Senate that does not protect New Jersey from oil drilling in the Atlantic."

I'm With Keith

Keith Olbermann, who is rich enough to self-insure, will not buy the health insurance the Senate is destined to pass. He won't buy it, even under penalty of fine or jail. He is against it. I am with Keith.

Phil Gramm : Larry Flint :: Kenny G : David Sanborn

Phil Gramm, you know, the guy McCain thinks is a genius, likes naked ladies and will pay to have them be naked in movies!!

Here is a great quote from Max's story up on HuffPo:
These scenes "really got Phil titillated," Caton told journalist John Judis in 1995. Gramm enthusiastically cut Caton a check for $15,000. Because the film was oversold, however, Caton returned his brother-in-law's money, offering him an investment opportunity in an upcoming feature.
He was titillated! The whole thing is kind of titillating, no?

Misty, Water Colored Memories

Remember the 4th Amendment? Well, it's just a memory now. Can't you just hear Babs singing now?

From the ACLU:

Subject: Outrageous and un-American

Hey,

Did you know that Congress has signed away our right to privacy?

It’s true! By making FISA law, the President and Congress have made it legal for US agencies to spy on our text messages, email, and phone calls to people outside the US, without any cause, reason or warrant. Does that sound like a right to privacy to you?

Help the ACLU overturn FISA by sharing your message of support now!

The Sergeant At Arms Was Here!

Yes. The Sergeant At Arms of the Senate was Googling "Russ Feingold" and apparently ended up here yesterday. Now, I wonder why Sarge would do that? But really, I wonder if he even noticed me. It's hard when a visitor enters and exits this blog in the same minute to know what they may have gleaned.

And this is kind of cool (from the SAAOTS website):
The Sergeant at Arms is authorized to arrest and detain any person violating Senate rules, including the President of the United States.
